ADB President Asakawa highlights integrity in private sector development
In an event to mark the International Anticorruption Day 2024 on 10 December, President Masatsugu Asakawa underscored the importance of integrity, transparency, and accountability in driving private sector growth and fostering economic development in Asia and the Pacific. Harvard Kennedy School's founding director of the Corporate Responsibility Initiative Jane Nelson and Zhong Lun Law Firm's equity partner Xiangming Yi shared their insights on the importance of integrity in private sector development at the event hosted by ADB's Office of Anticorruption and Integrity.
ADB implements the Investigation and Enforcement Framework
ADB’s Investigation and Enforcement Framework (IEF) replaced the Integrity Principles and Guidelines on 21 October 2024. The IEF outlines ADB’s procedures for handling allegations of integrity violations and establishes the Integrity Enforcement Committee and the Enforcement Appeals Committee. The new framework strengthens the independence of ADB’s investigation and enforcement process by forming committees with a majority of external members, broadening the criteria and scope of appeals, expanding the bases for publishing ADB debarments, and enhancing procedures for non-contested enforcement actions and suspensions.
ADB hosts the 24th Conference of International Investigators
ADB hosted the 24th Conference of International Investigators on 13–15 November 2024, at its headquarters in Manila, Philippines. Over 170 investigators from 58 international organizations gathered to discuss integrity issues and to share leading practices in the fight against fraud and corruption. The annual conference enhances close cooperation and collegiality among investigative offices of participating organizations, facilitates dialogue among investigators, provides advanced hands-on training, and enables participants to hear from industry specialists and receive the latest developments in the field.
